Nest had a major issue with the Nest Protect product recalling almost 500 thousand units. Now Nest Protect has dropped in price from $129 to $99. In the latest version, the wave hand gesture allowing users to disable the alarm has been removed. This makes sense as someone could also be waving smoke away from the smoke alarm and accidentally shut it off. That was clearly a design flaw.
The company is claiming that the Nest Protect will collect valuable safety data. This safety data is very helpful for protecting against carbon monoxide exposure.
